COYOTE SIGHTINGS

There have been numerous sightings of 1 or more coyotes today in Highland Meadows, throughout the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they are preying on our small pets. Please keep an eye out for your cats and dogs. Make neighbors aware when you have spotted a coyote in your area. Parents, please warn your children not to approach these wild animals. Below is a link for further information on coyotes and their behavior.

RACCOON WASTE - HEALTH ALERT

A recent article in the Bellingham Herald has called to our attention that raccoon droppings pose a serious health hazard. Since Highland Meadows is known to have a raccoon population, this posting is appropriate.

In summary, many raccoons have roundworms in their intestines which produce millions of eggs, which are passed on in the raccoon's feces. Those hardy eggs can take hold inside people and cause fatal brain infections. The bottom line is is to make your home less tempting to raccoons. Keep a tight lid on garbage and your sandbox. Don't leave pet food and water outside at night. Clean up seed debris from your bird feeders. Plug gaps or holes to keep raccoons out. Below is a link to the original article. Please read it.

PRAYER REQUEST

This prayer request is being sent out for our Highland Meadows neighbors Chad and Julie Jordison and their families. Julie is very ill after giving birth prematurely to their new baby girl. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. The baby is doing good at this time. Also, please keep their families in your prayers as well.

Thank you so much !
