NeighborHood Watch Report: Suspicious Vehicle

Heather Highlands sent this out to their community:

On Friday, Nov. 1, about 10:00 to 11:30 am, neighbors in Division 4, along SE 329th ST, spotted a suspicious vehicle. The driver and passenger were two females approximately 20 years old. They were using high-powered binoculars to look into houses, particularly open garages. One neighbor approached the car and asked the driver what they were doing. The driver claimed they were waiting for a friend. The back of the car was full of backpacks and other stuff. The neighbor then called King County Sheriff, and a deputy responded fairly quickly. The deputy said the car and the female driver were known to KC Sheriff's dept. The deputy spent some time driving through the neighborhood looking for the car and/or the young females, but did not find either.

The car is a dark navy blue Honda station wagon. License plate 024YKK.
The driver is a young HIspanic female. The passenger is a young blonde female.

Please be alert and watch for this dark blue Honda station wagon. If you see the vehicle in the neighborhood, please contact 9-1-1 to report it to the King County Sheriff.

Break-ins and burglaries can happen anytime day or night. Please keep your garage doors closed and all doors and windows locked. If you see anything suspicious, call 9-1-1 right away. And then report the incident to Block Watch. Thank you for remaining alert!

Neighborhood Watch ALERT

Received this alert from the Heather Highlands Homeowners: Alert issued 4/15/2011 @ 1:16 PM A home in Waldheim Acres had an attempted burglary Thursday morning between 7:30 and 8:00 am. There were police officers in the Heather Highlands area responding to a suspicious vehicle (321XUR Silver Dodge Intrepid). When they arrived in Waldheim Acres, they found that someone had thrown a heavy object against the side sliding glass door. The noise (or the movement of the door) set off the alarm, and the perpetrator must have left in a hurry. The police officer told the homeowner that this was the same MO as a burglary that happened Wednesday between Ravensdale and Hobart. He also said the registered owner of the vehicle (the silver Dodge) has committed burglaries in the same manner. No one saw any cars or suspicious people in the Waldheim Acres attempted burglary. So it is speculation that the same vehicle was involved. However, Thursday evening about 6:00 pm, the same Silver Dodge Intrepid was spotted in the cul-de-sac on 193rd Ave SE (near the attempted burglary in Waldheim Acres). A homeowner followed the car for a bit, while calling 911, and was told by King County dispatch to back off. If you see this vehicle (Silver Dodge Intrepid, license plate 321XUR), or people in the neighborhood who look suspicious, please call 911 and report it. Tell the police we have had problems in our area, and you want to report a suspicious person or vehicle. It's important now more than ever that we need to watch out over each other's homes, properties, vehicles, etc. It's best to pay attention to your surrondings. Call the police, then call your Block Watch if you see anything suspicious. Thanks for keeping our neighborhood safe!

Entrance Incident

The sign post at the front entrance, (holding the no solicitation sign) was knocked down last night. The sign post has been repaired and additional concrete will be poured to better secure it. The camera was damaged, but a replacement will be up shortly. In the meantime there is still one camera in operation. It is suspected that young males in a 2000-2009 White Chevrolet Extended Cab P/U Truck with a black bug guard across the hood are responsible for pushing the sign over.

Coyote Sighting

Last night at about 1:30 a.m., a pair of coyote were spotted running down the middle of 342nd st. Please be aware that they are still prowling our neighbohood.

Prayer Request Follow UP

Earlier this year a Request For Prayers was posted on this blog on behalf of Highland Meadows neighbors Chad and Julie Jordison and their families.

As many of you may already know, Julie was critically ill with HELLP Syndrome. We are pleased to report that Julie has experienced a miraculous recovery and is now home, and she and new born daughter Breanna Joy are doing fine.

Julie "would like to sincerely thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers through this time of hardship for me and my family"

Please continue to pray that Julie's organs continue to heal, that her blood pressure can be controlled, and that her energy level increases.

Neighborhood Gathering

Due to the overwhelming support that they received from the neighborhood during her hospital stay, Chad and Julie have decided to plan a Highland Meadows neighborhood barbecue. They have chosen the date of Saturday, Sept. 18th from 1-4 p.m. at the Trac A ballfield. Chad and Julie will be providing hot dogs, chips, pop, and cake. They have also rented a large 25 ft. blow up slide for the kids (or adults). They will be posting signs a week in advance. They are hoping for great weather and a large turnout. MARK YOUR CALENDARS !

COYOTE SIGHTINGS

There have been numerous sightings of 1 or more coyotes today in Highland Meadows, throughout the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they are preying on our small pets. Please keep an eye out for your cats and dogs. Make neighbors aware when you have spotted a coyote in your area. Parents, please warn your children not to approach these wild animals. Below is a link for further information on coyotes and their behavior.

RACCOON WASTE - HEALTH ALERT

A recent article in the Bellingham Herald has called to our attention that raccoon droppings pose a serious health hazard. Since Highland Meadows is known to have a raccoon population, this posting is appropriate.

In summary, many raccoons have roundworms in their intestines which produce millions of eggs, which are passed on in the raccoon's feces. Those hardy eggs can take hold inside people and cause fatal brain infections. The bottom line is is to make your home less tempting to raccoons. Keep a tight lid on garbage and your sandbox. Don't leave pet food and water outside at night. Clean up seed debris from your bird feeders. Plug gaps or holes to keep raccoons out. Below is a link to the original article. Please read it.

PRAYER REQUEST

This prayer request is being sent out for our Highland Meadows neighbors Chad and Julie Jordison and their families. Julie is very ill after giving birth prematurely to their new baby girl. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. The baby is doing good at this time. Also, please keep their families in your prayers as well.

Thank you so much !
